2015 archives: WEDNESDAY EVENTS

Day 6 of Food Connections and we have another jam packed day of events all over the city!

This afternoon, we’ll be looking at ways in which food can ‘Challenge Social Isolation’ at our Cook ‘N Converse workshop in the Well Spring Centre. Meanwhile, down the road in Easton, people from all over the world will share their food stories, and cook up a globe trotting lunch, at our ‘Cook your Culture’ event.

We highly recommend catching the Cube’s screening of GMO OMG this evening if you can, it’s a game changer!

Eat Drink Bristol Fashion are hosting a Sustainable Food Summit organised by the Field to Fork Foundation this afternoon with chefs and food producers discussing how to ‘Build a Sustainable Menu’. The Summit welcomes people from all sectors of the food, drink and catering industry but members of the public are very welcome to join what promises to be a full day of talks and debates.

In the IMAX, Rick Stein will be in conversation with BBC Radio 4’s Sheila Dillon for a special edition of the Food Programme while At-Bristol will open their doors for a special food-themed After Hours event. Take part in some tasty food-based fun; grab a drink, get hands-on and experiment with over 300 exhibits.

Students from the City of Bristol College will be showing off their skills at the College’s training restaurant on Anchor Road this evening with coffee tasting, a selection of delicious canapés and homemade cakes and summery gin cocktails on offer. This event is free to attend but booking is required.

Mitch Tonks will be cooking from the First Great Western Pullman menu at his new restaurant, The Spiny Lobster, in Clifton. This event is sold out but you can enjoy the menu whenever you travel on the Pullman so no need for too much disappointment!

Over the river, at the Star & Dove in Totterdown, ‘Bristol Stories’ will host a food themed storytelling event, with true stories told by culinary greats from the Bristol restaurant scene and ordinary people who have ever burnt their cakes and have a story to tell.

And don’t forget to check out our citywide Food and Cider Trails which are running throughout, with special offers and special dishes to celebrate Food Connections.

And that’s just Wednesday! Check out our What’s On page for the low down on what’s to come for the rest of Food Connections.
