Charlie & Phil James

River Cottage Canteen chefs and brothers Charlie and Phil James are forward-thinking, dynamic chefs with a wealth of experience in delicious, ethical cooking. Bristol-born, Charlie spent five years as a top chef in Melbourne restaurants and on his return home in 2016, took over as the head chef at River Cottage Canteen Bristol, which recently celebrated its third birthday with a four-course seasonal menu devised by the brothers.

Charlie is joined on stage by his brother Phil, who works beside him at the Canteen as his second-in-command. Both brothers have spent many years as chefs in restaurants across Bristol including Bordeaux Quay, Juniper and Ocean.
