Our very special guests from Slow Food International will be in town to awaken your taste buds, introducing you to a wide range of food biodiversity that cannot be found in supermarkets and let you try some rare and tasty British foods, as well as traditional and authentic Italian pizza.
Slow Food will host the Ark of Taste Market, which will showcase around 20 artisan producers from the UK, selected for their regional representation of endangered foods and techniques. The market will feature products listed in Slow Food’s Ark of Taste catalogue, which collects small-scale quality productions that belong to the cultures, history and traditions of the entire planet but whose existence is threatened. This is a unique opportunity to learn about and taste some of UK’s best and hidden produce. The market will include rare grain varieties, artisanal raw-milk cheeses and meat from traditional animal breeds, as well as offer the chance to connect with local producers.
Slow Food will also be running a pop-up pizzeria, with top chefs at the helm just to give guests the chance to see how real artisanal pizza is made and to taste the authentic ingredients. This may be the best pizza you ever eat!
In the same space, Slow Food International will also feature educational taste workshops to raise awareness about the importance of locally sourced ingredients and on how taste can guide us to make environmentally friendly choices. Head down to Pop-Up Pizzeria on College Green to sign up!
