Cooking for Parents - Cook ‘n Converse Event with SPAN

kids-eating

Using supermarket food ‘waste’ provided by Fareshare South West, a chef mentor will
demonstrate how to cook a simple yet nutritious meal with what you have / can get easily to 12 chosen participants from the local community.

12 guests (invited by the cooks), and 12 conversationalists (representatives from the local
community, shopkeepers, community engagement officers, school spokespeople, councilors, health representatives, people growing, foraging and finding alternative methods of engaging with food) will be invited to the meal to stimulate a discussion about food accessibility, its obstacles within the area, and ways to motivate people to cook more at home.

Bristol University and University of the West of England will be documenting the event, as part of a wider study about food accessibility.

This event will act as a springboard for the healthy eating courses running from the Silai Centre aimed at parents with children, and support initiatives being lead by the Single Parents Action Network at Silai.

Invite only.
