After twenty years working within major food and drink multiple retailers, Julie Prebble now manages the development of Toast Ale, a business founded by Tristram Stuart – an award winning author and campaigner on the environmental and social impacts of food waste.
Toast Ale is a new beer, launched this January, which is brewed using surplus fresh bread that would otherwise go to waste.
Toast Ale’s mission is threefold:
- to repurpose surplus fresh ingredients into delicious new products
- to raise awareness of food waste
- and to donate all profits to Feedback - the environmental organisation campaigning against food waste at every level of the global food system.
With 44% of bread produced in the UK going to waste and householders alone throwing 24 million slices of bread away every day, there is now a rev-ale-lution afoot!
