Kimchi Kimjang

The health benefits and unique flavour of kimchi are well known by now – here’s your chance to learn how to make the real thing.

Learn from a Korean/British chef couple just back from a decade in Seoul. “Kimjang” is the Korean tradition of communal kimchi preparation for winter, bringing together families and communities through food in a way that’s all but disappeared in the UK. Join this workshop and learn how powerful this experience can be.

Included in the ticket price is a hands-on kimchi making tutorial with instructions on how to ferment at home, and a bean curd making demonstration, all ending in the traditional meal of Korean braised pork wrapped in freshly made (unfermented) kimchi, with fermented Korean beverages and side dishes.

Vegetarians will enjoy kimchi fried rice and Korean style soy braised tofu as well as a vegan kimchi tutorial. Everyone will take home the kimchi they make as well as a sample of homemade tofu.

There are two sessions to choose from:

  • 11-1.30pm
  • 6-8.30pm.
