Business Bootcamp Session One: What are the opportunities for Bristol as a food tourism destination?

The session will open with a short talk from Erik Wolf, founder of the World Food Tourism Association, on the worldwide trends in food tourism, as well as what the opportunities are for Bristol food & drink businesses. This will be followed by a panel discussion on Bristol’s strengths and weaknesses as a ‘foodie city’, moderated by Caroline Peel. Panelists include Josh Eggleton (Eat Drink Bristol Fashion), Kathryn Davis (Destination Bristol), Martin Booth (Bristol 24/7), Danny Walker (Psychopomp Microsdistillery), Tessa Lidstone (Box-E) and City to Sea.

In this session you will learn:

  • The growth and trends in food tourism today
  • Tips on maximising your visibility and offering to visitors
  • How to work with the press and tourist board
  • The opportunities of travel trade and group visits
  • What ‘placemaking’ is
  • How other businesses are making the most of local, national and even international fame
