Breastfeeding as a Family & Societal Responsibility with Prof. Amy Brown & Dominique Sakoilsky – Brain Food Session

After years of formula promotion and a belief that babies should behave in a certain way, we forgot how breast-feeding worked and how it fits in with family life. We didn’t understand frequent feeding and the idea of babies waking up at night or breastfeeding in public. We put pressure on new mums to get their figure back, keep their relationship passionate and get back to work. We thought babies should be ‘good’ and passive and sleep through the night, and that formula would help with all of these challenges.

Prof Amy Brown and Dominique Sakoilsky explore how we can turn this around and care for our new mothers and to empower them to mother their babies. They also explore how partners can support a breastfeeding mother, whilst also bonding with their baby and with the woman they love.
