Forest Gardening Practical Workshop - St Werburghs City Farm

Come and help St Werburghs City Farm plant a mini-forest garden - a way of growing food in a multi-layered system that mimics a natural woodland.

An established forest garden can give high yields of diverse produce such as fruit, nuts, vegetables, herbs, medicines, and fungi.  It also needs less maintenance than a conventional vegetable garden and is rich in habitats for beneficial insects, birds and animals.

In this practical workshop, Jess Clynewood, the Farm’s Horticultural Training Manager, will show you the basic principles of forest gardening, including how to prepare the soil and plant the garden.

Please wear appropriate footwear and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit muddy! Suitable for those aged 12 years and over. Those under 18 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
