Cooking for the Elderly - Cook ‘n Converse Event

Using supermarket food ‘waste’ provided by Fareshare South West, a chef mentor will
demonstrate how to cook a simple yet nutritious meal with what you have / can get easily.

6 guests (invited by the cooks), and 6 conversationalists (representatives from the local
community, shopkeepers, community engagement officers, day centre spokespeople, disability advisers, councilors, health representatives and people involved in food in the local area) will be invited to the meal to stimulate a discussion about food accessibility, its obstacles within the area, and ways to motivate the elderly to cook more at home.

Bristol University and University of the West of England will be documenting the event, as part of a wider study about food accessibility.

This event will act alongside other cooking afternoons being held at the centre, including
Christmas cake decorating workshops and other cookery demos being provided to help stimulate enjoyment through food and cooking.

Invite only.
