Food City Region conference to take place during festival

Food City Region: Cultivating Planning is a national one-day conference designed to explore the role of planning policy and action in supporting a resilient food system.

Bristol Food Plan

The conference will be taking place on 6th May during Bristol Food Connections with the intention of highlighting this important issue and encouraging engagement. The aim of the conference is to explore how cities like Bristol can improve access to good food for all citizens.

This goal perfectly complements the Food Connections festival that will be celebrating and raising awareness of good food in the region.

Organised by Bristol Health Partners SHINE (Supporting Healthy Inclusive Neighbourhood Environments) and WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Urban Environment at UWE, Bristol in association with F3 Local Food Consultants, Bristol City Council and Bristol Food Policy Council, this event will be invaluable for policy officers, planning professionals, food businesses and community food initiatives, as well as those involved in planning new housing developments and neighbourhoods, safeguarding health and well-being, promoting local retail centre regeneration and markets.

Commenting on the conference, Marcus Grant, Deputy Director of WHO Centre for Healthy Urban Environments at UWE said:

“We are planning to bring together those involved in current action, and those who need to be, from across the UK to stimulate a debate and help people in their quest for food systems that better support local enterprise, population health and a more sustainable future. We are really pleased to be part of the Bristol Food Connections, engaging academic and non-academic audiences with such an important topic and promoting healthy attitudes to food and environment.”
